History of the department
The history of the department begins with the distant 1938, when the work of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Odessa Agricultural Institute began to recover, according to the “Resolution of the USSR Sovnarkom Committee”. The first dean of the faculty of veterinary medicine became a Ph.D. Professor Vladimir Zhedenov. In the first years, the course of anatomy and histology with embryology was read by one of the organizers of the Odessa Agricultural Institute, Professor Tretyakov DK In 1944, an independent department of normal anatomy of farm animals was headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Zhedenov VM In 1946, the first issue of 27 veterinary doctors (out of 50 admitted to the first year in 1938) took place, and this was a significant merit of the department. At different times the department heads worked: Associate Professor Lukyanova VP (1962 – 1987), temporarily senior lecturer Vardiashvili ER, Associate Professor Morozov VV, from 1988 to 1998 – Associate Professor Kostenko VA Since February 1998, under the order of the rector of the institute, the department was reorganized into the Department of Normal and Pathological Anatomy under the direction of Ph.D. Professor Krivutenko AI In 2002, in connection with the reorganization of the structural divisions of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Normal and Pathological Anatomy and Pathophysiology was organized on the basis of the existing Department and whose head was appointed MD, Professor Sukmansky AI.
Since February 2005 the department is headed by Ph.D., associate professor Zh. Korenev, who graduated with honors in 1987 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Odessa SSI and is a student of Professor Krivutenko AI. The department has – anatomy and Patanatomical Museums and a collection of histological drugs. In the anatomical museum a considerable amount of dry bone preparations are collected: 25 skeletons, 97 skulls, 168 breast and pelvic limbs of various kinds of animals, 20 skeletons of a bird, and also 64 models of various organs, besides there are dry muscular preparations of cattle, dogs. For independent work of a material on structure of separate bodies, arrangement of vessels and nerves moist preparations. In the pathoanatomical museum there are about 500 museum preparations, which reflect the main pathoanatomical changes in organs and tissues in various diseases, in addition there is a collection of histological preparations of more than 300 pieces. Much attention is paid to the production of tables and slides containing modern material. The museums have organized workplaces for students to work independently with those submitted to the program for independent study. For theoretical preparation at the department in each discipline there is a list of educational and methodical literature.
