On 29–30 September 2026, Odesa State Agrarian University invites participants to the training seminar “Awareness and Preparedness: Detection of Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross-Border Epidemics”, held within the framework of the project “SMS-RO-UA: Development of Screening and Monitoring Systems for Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross-Border Epidemics in the Current Context” (ROUA00136).
The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme. Odesa State Agrarian University is Project Partner 3. 
The seminar is organised within Activity 1.5 – “Increasing awareness on emerging diseases and the prevention of cross-border epidemics.”
The objective of the seminar is to raise awareness of emerging diseases and mechanisms for preventing cross-border epidemics, promote harmonised and standardised approaches to the collection and management of epidemiological surveillance and monitoring data, and strengthen practical skills in the use of laboratory equipment and pathogen identification protocols.
On the first day, 29 September, participants will focus on cross-border diseases, data exchange and joint epidemic control. On 30 September, the practical part of the seminar will take place at OSAU at 3a Krasnova Street. Participants will learn about research methodologies and identification protocols, the operation of equipment purchased within the project, and take part in practical sessions on sample preparation and laboratory procedures.
The event will be held in a hybrid format, taking into account security conditions, with both in-person and online participation. Registration starts at 9:00 AM and the event starts at 10:00 AM.

The project is being implemented between June 4, 2025, and December 3, 2026, and has a total value of € 418.063,41, of which € 376.257,06 is funding provided by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021- 2027. As a partner, total Odesa State Agrarian University eligible budget is € 144.748,80.
