On 25 September 2026 the National Information Session “Development of a Transnational Network for Sturgeon Conservation in the Black Sea Basin” was held in Odesa. The event was organised by State Organization “Institute of Market and Economic&Ecological Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”
within the framework of the international project “Network for the Preservation of Sturgeon and for the Sustainability of the Black Sea Basin Ecosystem” (SturNet, BSB 00172).
The event addressed a range of topical issues related to sturgeon conservation, protection of the marine environment and biodiversity in the Black Sea Basin, research into sturgeon habitats, the state of water resources, the application of geoinformation technologies and satellite monitoring, as well as legal and practical mechanisms for the conservation of aquatic biological resources. Particular attention was devoted to the exchange of expertise and the development of cooperation among research institutions, public authorities, higher education institutions and non-governmental organisations.
Odesa State Agrarian University was represented by:
- Olena BEZALTYCHNA, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture;
- Tetiana PUSHKAR, Head of the Department of Technology of Production and Processing of Animal Husbandry Products of the Educational and Research Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture.
The participation of OSAU representatives, as a stakeholder of the SturNet project, contributes to the development of scientific and inter-institutional cooperation, the exchange of expertise in aquaculture and the conservation of aquatic biological resources, as well as the establishment of further cooperation within the framework of the international SturNet project.
Odesa State Agrarian University expresses its gratitude to the organisers for the opportunity to participate in this professional dialogue and reaffirms its interest in further cooperation aimed at conserving biodiversity and promoting the sustainable development of the Black Sea region.
