International Week at OSAU:

Advancing Internationalisation, Partnership and New Opportunities

From 26 to 29 May 2026, Odesa State Agrarian University (OSAU) hosted its first-ever International Week – a series of educational, scientific and intercultural events aimed at fostering the internationalisation of higher education, expanding international cooperation, and promoting academic mobility.

Initiated by Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations Tetiana NEBOHA, with the active involvement of all faculties, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture, and organisational support provided by the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, the event brought together academic staff, students as well as Ukrainian and international university partners.

The International Week programme featured a variety of interactive and academic activities. The photo exhibition “Beyond Borders: Global Engagement and International Experience” presented the diverse international activities of OSAU. Visitors had the opportunity to explore photographs showcasing students’ and staff members’ participation in internships, conferences, international projects, and study visits, while also gaining insight into vibrant and memorable experience of student life within the global academic community.

During the round table discussion “International Projects and Programs in the Context of the Internationalization of Higher Education”, participants presented reports on the implementation of international projects, opportunities offered by Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programmes, as well as best practices in international cooperation among Ukrainian and foreign higher education institutions (26 May 2026).

A particular highlight of the programme was the student event “European Campus of Cultures”, organised by Mariia KHOLOD, lecturer at the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, and dedicated to Europe Day in Ukraine. OSAU students delivered presentations in English about European countries, demonstrating their foreign language proficiency, communication skills, and intercultural competencies (27 May 2026).

Another key event of the week was the international student videoconference “International Academic Mobility Experience for Practice-Oriented Learning”. During the event, students from Ukrainian higher education institutions, together with representatives of partner institutions from Georgia, Moldova, Türkiye and Romania, shared their diverse international academic experiences (28 May 2026).

The International Week concluded with the practical workshop “Plagiarism and Pseudoscience in Scientific Writing” delivered by Galia ZAMARATSKAIA, Associate Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala, Sweden). Participants received valuable recommendations on academic integrity and preparing high-quality scientific publications (29 May 2026).

International Week at OSAU marked an important step forward in the university’s ongoing internationalisation of higher education. The initiative demonstrated its relevance, effectiveness, and strong potential for further development, laying the foundation for what promises to become a valuable annual tradition.
