From May 20 to 26, 2025 the representatives of Odesa State Agrarian University — Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, PhD in Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor Kateryna RODIONOVA and Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery, Obstetrics and Small Animal Diseases, PhD in Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor Liliia ROMAN successfully completed the international training program at the University of Messina (Italy) within the framework of Erasmus+.
The participants of the academic mobility program got acquainted with the organization of the educational process, scientific infrastructure and practical training of veterinary medicine experts at one of Italy’s leading higher education institutions. As part of the program, numerous working meetings with the academic staff of the University of Messina were held. The OSAU representatives learned about the student PhD training program in veterinary medicine and the accreditation procedure of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE). The internship attendees also visited laboratories of food microbiology, parasitology, light microscopy, histology and morphology.
Particular attention was paid to the organization of simulation-based training in specialized classrooms (skill labs), the anatomical museum, vivarium, mini-farm and the university veterinary clinic, where the academic mobility participants explored the departments of surgery, intensive care, anesthesiology, biotechnology and reproduction.
In addition to the academic component, the training included a cultural program with excursions to Palermo, Taormina and historical museums in Messina, which allowed for a deeper understanding of Italian culture, educational environment and traditions.
The visit of Kateryna RODIONOVA and Liliia ROMAN resulted in agreements on guest lectures by Italian scholars at OSAU and further cooperation in the fields of education and science.
Participation in the internship of research and pedagogical staff of our university is an important step toward the internationalization of education, improving the quality of veterinary training and strengthening scientific collaboration between OSAU and the University of Messina.
