International Meeting on Climate Adaptation and Coastal Ecosystem Protection

Odesa State Agrarian University joins partner institutions and international experts for a strategic meeting focused on enhancing coastal resilience in the Black Sea region, which will be organized by Ovidius University (Constanța, Romania).

Program Highlights:

October 22 | Expert Discussions and Scientific Presentations

  • Opening session with regional stakeholders and academic leadership
  • Interactive discussions with specialists from marine research, water management, environmental protection, and border security agencies
  • Unveiling of cutting-edge remote sensing techniques for coastal ecosystem monitoring
  • Case study presentation: Romanian coast assessment results
  • Evening reception fostering cross-border professional connections

October 23 | On-Site Research and Strategic Planning

  • Practical examination of coastal restoration sites in Constanța area
  • Collaborative evaluation of nature-based adaptation strategies with local specialists
  • Exploration of regional natural heritage and coastal infrastructure
  • Working session on future implementation roadmap
  • Final deliberations on transnational collaboration framework

This initiative represents a significant step toward implementing science-based climate adaptation solutions across Black Sea coastal communities through international partnership and shared expertise.

The project is being implemented between July 26, 2024, and January 25, 2027, and has a total value of €1,594,728, of which €1,435,255.20 is funding provided by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Program. As a partner, Odesa State Agrarian University receives EU funding of 143.872,20 euros.
