Odesa State Agrarian University, as a partner of the international project SMS-RO-UA “Development of Screening and Monitoring Systems for Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross-Border Epidemics in the Current Context”, is pleased to announce the release of the ninth project newsletter.

The new issue is dedicated to the successful completion of the first and second sampling and analysis campaigns in Ukraine. The field activities covered five settlements in the southern part of Odesa region. More than 1,000 biological, water and soil samples were collected during the two campaigns for further laboratory investigation.

The newsletter presents information on the collection, labelling, packaging and transportation of samples, as well as on the comprehensive laboratory analysis. Molecular genetic methods, including real-time PCR and conventional PCR, were used for pathogen detection, together with serological testing using ELISA.
