On May 12, 2025 Luigi Cavestro, Regional Manager of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM, Bari, Italy), visited Odesa State Agrarian University. 
During the visit a meeting with Viktor Zorunko, Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnology of OSAU was held, as well as with representatives of the Department of International Relations.
Mr. Cavestro presented the Support Programme for the Restoration of the Economic Potential of the Agri-Food Sector, which is to be implemented in three districts of Odesa region – Odesa, Rozdilna, and Berezivka. The initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s agri-food system by aligning it with European Union regulations and standards (acquis communautaire) and facilitating the entry of Ukrainian agricultural products into European markets.
The meeting also focused on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, particularly in supporting agriculture, attracting funding for scientific research and enhancing the professional qualifications of specialists. Special attention is planned to be given to the employment of young professionals – university graduates, as well as their vocational training. As a result of the meeting, a preliminary agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
