On April 18, 2025 the first international Webinar “BODY LANGUAGE IN DOGS AND CATS”, initiated by Nina DANKEVYCH, PhD, Assistant of the Department of Surgery, Obstetrics and Diseases of Small Animals took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The webinar was held within the framework of the educational component “ZOOPSYCHOLOGY”.
The speaker of the event was Dr. Gürbüz ERTÜRK, Veterinarian Specialist, Dog Trainer Instructor, Founding honorary member of the Romanian Dog Training Club, a member of the FCI. Dr. Gürbüz ERTÜRK is the first veterinarian in Türkiye (Ankara) to hold the “Fear Free” and “Low Stress Handling” certificates.
During the event the following topics were discussed:
- What is animal language
- Body language signals exhibited by dogs and cats
- Inter-species emotional transfer through body scents (chemosignals)
- Emotional states of happiness and fear
- Dog body language
- Cat body language
- Interpreting the body language of dogs and cats
- How to improve communication between pets and their owners
The event was attended by 81 students of Veterinary Medicine educational program and 15 researchers and teachers.
