On April 23-24, 2024 Associate Professor of the Department of Horticulture, Viticulture, Biology and Chemistry Pavlo Tykhonov participated in the international scientific workshop «Research collaboration between Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania». The seminar was held in the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection of the National University of Moldova (Chisinau, Republic of Moldova). The event was initiated by Mr. Mahbubjon Rahmatov from the Department of Plant Selection of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences who invited representatives of academic schools and researchers from Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania.
10 researchers from four countries presented their scientific reports at the seminar. Research reports on physiological, biochemical and genetic selection basics of agricultural plants, resistance to biotic and abiotic factors in the environment, use of molecular biology technology in research of genetic diversity and plant health monitoring were considered.
During the workshop participants of the scientific seminar visited test fields and laboratories of the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection of the National University of Moldova, where some research infrastructures were demonstrated. Also, collections of aromatic and medical plants, hybridization, propagation plots and fields of competitive varieties and testing of grain and leguminous crops were presented.
The event resulted in a proposal on collaboration between 9 institutions from Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania and submission of the project within the framework of calls announced by the EU.
