We are excited to announce the launch of a new international project in which OSAU is a partner. Project “SMS – RO – UA : Development of Screening and Monitoring Systems for Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross – Border Epidemics in the Current Context ”), ROUA00136, is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Romania – Ukraine Programme 2021 – 2027.
The project aims to address the challenges of transboundary diseases in Eastern Europe, particularly in the cross-border region between Romania and Ukraine, which can affect human health, ecology and biodiversity. The project specifically focuses on African swine fever, West Nile, avian influenza, leptospirosis and toxoplasmosis through a comprehensive and collaborative analysis of transboundary diseases.
The main goal of this project is to improve capabilities explore new diseases in the region Lower Danube. This will be achieved by strengthening potential two research institutions in Romania and Ukraine, developments common systems screening and monitoring and implementation common actions across borders. The aim is to ensure effective supervision of emerging diseases and prevention epidemics in the region.
Project consortium:
Lead partner – Youth public organization “New European Generation” (Ukraine);
Partner 2 – Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate Tulcea (Romania);
Partner 3 – Odesa State Agrarian University (Ukraine).
The Project budget is 418 063.41 Euros, in particular the budget of the Odesa State Agrarian University is 144 748.80 euros (grant – 130 273.92 euros).
The Project implementation period is 18 months (04.06.2025 – 03.12.2026) .
