On January 20, 2026, a stakeholder discussion event will be held remotely at Odesa State Agrarian University to raise awareness about emerging diseases and cross-border epidemic prevention.
The event is being implemented within the framework of the project “SMS-RO-UA: Development of Screening and Monitoring Systems for Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross-Border Epidemics in the Current Context” ROUA00136, under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027, which is financed by the European Union and co-financed by the participating countries in the Programme.
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness among a wide range of stakeholders (representatives of local governments and executive authorities, industry agencies, non-governmental organizations, higher education institutions, research organizations, medical centers, etc.) on animal welfare and well-being within the One Health concept, the results of OSAU’s project activities during the first implementation period, as well as familiarization with updated requirements for state control over compliance with animal health and welfare legislation and their alignment with European Union law.

- Joint research on emerging diseases in the cross-border region: sampling and analysis
- Feed and feed additives as a factor in the spread of cross-border animal diseases

Expected results of the event:
- Raising awareness of the project implemented with the support of the European Union and involving key stakeholders in forming a communication framework
- Building a sustainable partnership ecosystem to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the initiative
- Expanding citizens’ understanding of the significance and benefits of their active cooperation as project stakeholders
- Deepening competence in preventive strategies for infectious animal diseases spreading across borders
- Mastering current norms of national legislation of Ukraine and European legal regulation in the field of veterinary medicine and animal welfare protection
