Odesa State Agrarian University, as a partner of the “MoreAdaptBSB – Less vulnerability, more adaptability – pilot remote sensing for the restoration of green zones in the coastal and urban areas of the Black Sea region ” project (BSB00479) (financed by the EU in the framework of Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme), participated in the 2nd Knowledge Exchange Group Meeting held on October 21-23, 2025, in Constanța, Romania.

The event brought together project partners, policymakers, scientists, and regional stakeholders from Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova to discuss cross-border cooperation on ecosystem restoration and climate resilience in coastal and urban areas.

The meeting was held within the framework of the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and featured panel discussions with leading experts from environmental authorities, academic institutions, and regional organizations. Participants discussed innovative scientific methods for monitoring and restoration of Black Sea coastal ecosystems, as well as aligning regional policy frameworks with EU climate and biodiversity targets.

Special attention was given to remote-sensing methodology for assessing green space restoration, presented by project partners. Participants also reviewed preliminary findings from pilot sites.

The program included a study visit to the urban pilot area and the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa,” where marine biodiversity research initiatives and potential collaboration opportunities were discussed.

The “MoreAdaptBSB” project promotes nature-based solutions, remote sensing tools, and knowledge exchange for environmental restoration in the Black Sea Basin. The project is being implemented between July 26, 2024, and January 25, 2027, and has a total value of €1,594,728, of which €1,435,255.20 is funding provided by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme. As a partner, Odesa State Agrarian University receives EU funding of 143.872,20 euros.

The next Knowledge Exchange Group meetings are scheduled to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, continuing the project’s efforts to co-create sustainable, nature-based approaches that strengthen cooperation among partner countries.
