On June 4, 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the State Institution “Institute of Market and Economic and Ecological Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” and Odesa State Agrarian University
within the framework of the implementation of the international project BSB00172 SturNet, funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.
OSAU acts as an important stakeholder of the project, providing scientific and educational support, participating in research and monitoring of aquatic ecosystems, and facilitating the implementation of sustainable approaches to aquaculture development.
The project is aimed at conserving sturgeon species – one of the most endangered groups of fish worldwide that are under national and international protection. The implementation of the initiative will contribute to the restoration of biodiversity in the Black Sea–Danube region, the development of environmentally friendly fisheries, and the strengthening of aquaculture as an essential component of the sustainable use of aquatic biological resources.
The signing of the Memorandum confirms the consistent commitment of OSAU to internationalization and participation in international projects focused on integrating science, education, and practice to ensure sustainable development.
