University Joins Partner Meeting of the International SturNet Project

On December 3–4, 2025 the partner meeting of the international project Network for the Preservation of Sturgeon and for the Sustainability of the Black Sea Basin Ecosystem* (SturNet, BSB00172) was held. The project is implemented by a consortium of organizations from Bulgaria, Moldova, Greece, Romania and Türkiye. Representatives of Odesa State Agrarian University (OSAU) joined the meeting online:

  • Tetiana NEBOHA, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations;
  • Olena BEZALTYCHNA, Director of Educational and Scientific Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture;
  • Andrii MAIEV, Head of the International Relations Department

The SturNet project aims to build a transnational network for the reproduction and conservation of sturgeon species, develop modern monitoring methods and create digital mapping tools and mobile applications for tracking population status. During the meeting, partners discussed the results of the third project period, data collection progress, use of digital technologies and next steps for the development of the Transnational Sturgeon Network.

The development of the fisheries sector is crucial for ensuring Ukraine’s food security, especially in the face of current challenges. OSAU’s invitation to participate as a stakeholder highlights the importance of our expert community in the conservation of aquatic resources and the implementation of innovative solutions in aquaculture. Scientists from the Educational and Research Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture at OSAU are ready to actively engage in joint research, development and practical initiatives aimed at the restoration and sustainable use of aquatic resources.

The university expresses its gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to participate and confirms its interest in continued collaboration within the SturNet project.
