Odesa State Agrarian University is a partner of the international project under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme – “Less vulnerability, more adaptability – pilot remote sensing assisted restoration of green spaces in coastal and urban areas within the Black Sea region” (MoreAdaptBSB, BSB00479).
The project is co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.
The overall goal of MoreAdaptBSB is enhancing cross-border cooperation to strengthen regional preparedness and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards through the application of nature-based solutions supported by highly innovative remote sensing methods.
Key project activities:
- Joint development of a remote sensing-based methodology to assess the resilience and vulnerability of coastal and urban areas to climate-related hazards.
- Implementation of a nature-based solution to improve the adaptability of the most vulnerable areas.

Main stages of project implementation
Kick-off Meeting: November 5–6, 2025
Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences Andrii MAIEV took part in the kick-off meeting held in Polygyros (Halkidiki, Greece). During the event the partners presented their areas of expertise and agreed on the initial steps and responsibilities for each organization.

Knowledge Exchange Group Meeting: May 19–20, 2025
Odesa State Agrarian University, represented by the project manager Daria BULYSHEVA, participated in the Knowledge Exchange Group Meeting. The planned event was organized by the Project partner from Greece – Chamber of Chalkidiki.
Goals of the meeting:
a) To enhance cooperation with Greek authorities and experts for aligning restoration strategies with local policies and initiatives.
b) To promote stakeholder support for pilot restoration activities in Kassandra, ensuring sustainability after the project’s completion.
c) To facilitate the exchange of practical research between international experts and Greek practitioners on urban and coastal resilience.
d) To present the MoreAdaptBSB Remote Sensing Assessment.
e) To plan and coordinate the next steps in project implementation.
International Meeting of Partners, Experts and Research Institutions: October 21–23, 2025
Odesa State Agrarian University took part in an international meeting dedicated to the issues of ecosystem restoration in the Black Sea region.
Venue: Ovidius University of Constanța (Romania).
During the event, representatives of the university, together with partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine discussed the restoration of coastal ecosystems, climate resilience and the application of innovative remote sensing technologies. Special attention was given to nature-based solutions aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the Black Sea region.
