{"id":38964,"date":"2026-06-25T13:37:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T11:37:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/osau.edu.ua\/?p=38964"},"modified":"2026-06-25T13:40:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T11:40:49","slug":"odau-anonsuye-tretij-vypusk-informatsijnogo-byuletenya-mizhnarodnogo-proyektu-algaerevive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/osau.edu.ua\/en\/odau-anonsuye-tretij-vypusk-informatsijnogo-byuletenya-mizhnarodnogo-proyektu-algaerevive\/","title":{"rendered":"OSAU Announces the Third Issue of the AlgaeRevive Project Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Proudly presenting the third edition of the newsletter of the international project <strong>&#8220;Harnessing Algae Power for Pollution Reduction and Blue Growth&#8221; (AlgaeRevive, BSB00091)<\/strong>, implemented under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, co-funded by the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>This issue reflects remarkable progress across all five partner countries \u2014 and OSAU is proud to be part of this growing collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights of this edition:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Conference in Batumi<\/strong> \u2014 from 28 to 30 May 2026, Georgia hosted the conference &#8220;Modern Problems of Black Sea Security in the Context of Climate Change,&#8221; bringing together scientists and experts to discuss bioremediation, coastal monitoring and ecosystem protection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First ROV Deep Trekker deployments<\/strong> \u2014 partners from Bulgaria and Romania completed the first field tests of the Deep Trekker remotely operated underwater vehicles, capable of reaching depths of 300 metres and collecting algae, water and sediment samples.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New research laboratory in Burgas<\/strong> \u2014 Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University has opened a modern environmental research laboratory to study algae, aquatic ecosystems and pollutant absorption.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Turning wastewater into a resource<\/strong> \u2014 Greek partners launched an LED photobioreactor in which Chlorella microalgae treat wastewater from tomato greenhouse production and generate natural biostimulants for plants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automated monitoring buoy near Poti<\/strong> \u2014 operating continuously since December 2025, the buoy in Georgian Black Sea waters collects data on 13 physicochemical parameters four times per day, including chlorophyll-a and crude oil contamination indicators.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALGAE K-HUB is now open<\/strong> \u2014 an international knowledge and innovation platform for algae and marine ecosystem protection, open to researchers, universities, authorities and businesses across partner countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OSAU advances Chlorella cultivation and algae-based monitoring<\/strong> \u2014 the OSAU team is refining its Chlorella cultivation system using new project equipment, while chemical analysis of Potamogeton perfoliatus extracts from Lake Yalpug confirmed favourable ecological conditions in the studied water body.<\/p>\n<p>Read the full newsletter <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/ded9fcac6815\/introducing-algaerevive-uniting-five-nations-for-a-greener-black-sea-6519366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/ded9fcac6815\/introducing-algaerevive-uniting-five-nations-for-a-greener-black-sea-6519366<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proudly presenting the third edition of the newsletter of the international project &#8220;Harnessing Algae Power for Pollution Reduction and Blue Growth&#8221; (AlgaeRevive, BSB00091), implemented under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, co-funded by the European Union.
