Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme (KA1) academic mobility, Olena PIESAROHLO, PhD in Chemistry, Associate Professor of the Department of Horticulture, Viticulture, Biology and Chemistry, Academic Secretary of Odesa State Agrarian University, successfully completed an international internship at the University of Forestry (Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria) in May 2026<\/strong>. This visit became a continuation of international cooperation in accordance with the Interinstitutional Agreement on academic mobility implementation between the partner institutions.<\/p>\n

The internship programme included a number of meaningful and productive meetings with the administration of the partner university: Rector Assoc. Prof. Hristo MIKHAILOV, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Vice-Rector for Research and Project Activities, Digitalisation, Innovation and International Cooperation Prof. Petar ANTOV, Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy Prof. Rumen TOMOV, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy Assoc. Prof. Vera PETROVA, as well as academic staff members, in order to discuss opportunities for strengthening and expanding scientific, educational and international cooperation.<\/p>\n

According to the internship programme, Assoc. Prof. Olena PIESAROHLO presented OSAU and became acquainted with the organisation of the educational process, curricula, and training practice facilities of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnology. The equipment of the chemistry teaching laboratory and the modern research laboratory for environmental protection, restoration and ecological monitoring at the University of Forestry was also explored.<\/p>\n

As part of the internship, the OSAU representative attended lectures and laboratory classes in Analytical Chemistry conducted by Assoc. Prof. Sonya DAMYANOVA, as well as Soil Science classes delivered by Prof. Biser HRISTOV and Assoc. Prof. Bilyana PESHTEVA. A meeting was also held with colleague and chemist Assoc. Prof. Yordanka IVANOVA for the exchange of experience in teaching and scientific research.<\/p>\n

Together with Prof. Svetoslav ANEV and Assoc. Prof. Sonya DAMYANOVA, the educational and experimental base Petrohan – Ponor was visited, where measurements were carried out using state-of-the-art portable devices to assess photosynthesis, transpiration, respiration, water deficit, species composition, structure and vegetation cover, as well as nitrogen- and sulphur-containing pollutants and heavy metals in atmospheric deposits beneath forest stands.<\/p>\n

A working meeting was also held with Assoc. Prof. Pavlin VICHEV, Head of the Career Development, Academic Staff and Alumni Sector, to discuss the requirements for awarding academic degrees and academic titles.<\/p>\n

We sincerely thank Erasmus Coordinator Iliana RUZHANOVA-GOSPODINOVA, as well as the administration and all colleagues of the University of Forestry, for organising the meetings, openness to cooperation, warm hospitality and the creation of a friendly and professional atmosphere!<\/p>\n
