SMS RO-UA Project Update<\/strong> \u2013 Youth Public Organization “New European Generation” in partnership with Odesa State Agrarian University and the Directorate for Veterinary Sanitation and Food Safety of Tulcea continues implementing the project “Development of Screening and Monitoring Systems for Emerging Diseases and Prevention of Cross-Border Epidemics in the Current Context” (SMS-RO-UA, ROUA00136), funded by the EU under Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027.<\/p>\n

During the first six months, the project team achieved significant results in combating cross-border disease spread, particularly African swine fever, West Nile virus, avian influenza, leptospirosis, and toxoplasmosis.<\/p>\n

Key Achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four major events brought together experts and representatives from various regions. Launch events attracted over 150 participants, while the first hybrid study visit in October gathered professionals from research institutions, government agencies, and the veterinary sector to share experiences and discuss disease monitoring strategies.<\/p>\n

One Health Approach:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project team applies the innovative One Health approach to study disease transmission along the animal\u2013water\u2013soil\u2013human chain. This comprehensive method enables not only tracking disease spread but also developing effective prevention and control strategies.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure Modernization:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Significant attention is dedicated to laboratory capacity development. Plans include acquiring modern equipment for accurate disease screening and monitoring.<\/p>\n

SMS RO-UA ROUA00136<\/a><\/p>\n

The project is being implemented between June 4, 2025, and December 3, 2026, and has a total value of \u20ac 418.063,41, of which \u20ac 376.257,06 is funding provided by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021- 2027. As a partner, total Odesa State Agrarian University eligible budget is \u20ac 144.748,80.<\/p>\n
